1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using ChessLock ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

ChessLock is an iOS and macOS application that helps users manage screen time, block distracting apps, and build focus habits through chess puzzles. The App uses Apple's Screen Time API to provide app blocking and focus session features.

3. Subscriptions and Pricing

ChessLock offers the following options:

  • Free Tier: Limited to 1 focus session and 1 app limit. No credit card required.
  • Paid Subscriptions: Weekly, monthly, or annual plans for unlimited focus sessions and app limits.

Subscriptions are managed by Apple through your Apple ID. Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.

4. Free Trial

ChessLock may offer a free trial period for new subscribers. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

5. Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple. Please refer to Apple's refund policy or visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use ChessLock for its intended purpose of personal productivity and focus management. You may not:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to bypass or circumvent the App's blocking mechanisms in ways that violate App Store guidelines
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Use the App in a way that infringes on others' rights

7. Intellectual Property

ChessLock, its name, logo, design, and all related assets are the intellectual property of ChessLock. The App Store badge is a trademark of Apple Inc. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the App without permission.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

ChessLock is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. While we aim to make ChessLock reliable and effective, we do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that app blocking will work in all scenarios.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ChessLock shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, including but not limited to loss of productivity, data, or profits.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through an app update. Continued use of ChessLock after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to ChessLock's paid features if you violate these terms. Upon termination, the free tier of the App will continue to function.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which ChessLock operates. Any disputes shall be resolved in accordance with applicable law.
